Sherwood “Shakey” Johnson and his
partner “Big Ed” Plummer opened the
first Shakey’s Pizza Parlor more than 50
years ago. It all started in a remodeled
grocery store on 57 th & J street in
Sacramento, California back in 1954.
Shakey and Ed wanted to open a plain ol’
Pizza & Beer Joint, but with a little
something unique.
They provided delicious Shakey’s
pizza, ice cold beer and live Dixieland
music for entertainment, Shakey’s pizza
quickly became known as the World’s
Greatest Pizza.
Today, Shakey’s still serves the
delicious pizza made famous by ours
founders, using the finest ingredients
and dough prepared fresh, EVERY DAY.
Keeping the tradition of great food and
family entertainment, Shakey’s is
gearing up with exciting changes ahead,
newly remodeled restaurants, improved
and expanded menus, state of the art
game rooms and expansion plans to open

Shakey’s Pizza is a pizza restaurant
chain based in the United States. The
chain currently has about 400 stores, 63
in the United States and the rest in
Asia.
History
Established by Sherwood Shakey
Johnson and Ed Plummer in 1954, the
first Shakey’s Pizza Parlor was located
at the corner of "57th" and "J" Streets,
Sacramento, California. Serving
scrumptious pizza that was soon
recognized as the World’s Greatest
Pizza®, the restaurant’s formula to
success laid not only in its outstanding
delicacies, but also in the signature
cozy ambience, cordial hospitality, and
spirited entertainment provided by the
Dixieland Jazz band.
With the success of the first
Shakey’s Pizza Parlor, the reputation of
the venture grew rapidly and numerous
new restaurants were opened across the
States. The year 1968 marked the
opportunity for a more global-minded
expansion and the first Shakey’s Pizza
Parlor outside the United States was
opened in Winnipeg, Canada. Today,
Shakey’s Pizza Parlor can be found
around the world, in North America,
Mexico, Japan, Philippines, China and
Hong Kong.
Ever-evolving to match with the
demand and taste of discerning
customers, Shakey’s continues to enhance
itself by extending the menu to include
a wide variety of á la carte selection
that combines the best in taste and
nutrition. In addition to its signature
world famous Hand-Tossed original thin
crust pizza, Mojo potato and Spiced
fried chicken, Shakey’s Pizza Parlor
also provides Fun & Family sets
especially for larger parties. However,
what will always remain unchanged is
Shakey’s steadfast adherence to its fine
tradition of providing great food using
the finest ingredients complemented by
pleasant & prompt service amidst a
welcoming atmosphere. Since its
establishment, Shakey’s stands to be the
